Why do I deserve this adventure? It’s a funny word, ‘deserve’; reeking of entitlement.
‘Desire’ might be more fitting.
I desire this adventure down in my bones because it encapsulates a dream I’ve tried to realise for much of my adult life.
As a traveller, I’m constantly on the lookout to discover what’s extraordinary in the mundane.
Whether it’s while diving, mountain climbing or cycling, the trained naturalist and writer in me are keen to notice the details and document the experience.
So far, my adventures have been on the tame side.
I’m ready for something more, and the idea of working with a Natural Geographic crew taps that firey instinct to document in a new way.
(It also substitutes for my lifelong dream of publishing with National Geographic magazine!)
What you get with me is Jamie Oliver’s enthusiasm merged with (a portion of) David Attenborough’s knowledge and Jack Osborne’s sense of adventure.
I have a unique perspective on the world that comes from a rich and varied background of ecologist, writer, educator, chef and artist, and would love an opportunity to share my perspective with your wide audience.
