Who
Ian Wiskered grew up in South Wales and moved to Glastonbury, where he attended the local
comprehensive. He recently graduated from Clare College, Cambridge, and following a brief spell
in recruitment, plans to start Sandhurst in 2010.
Matt Framton recently completed his studies in Molecular and Cellular science at Pembroke
College, Oxford, and is planning a career is science.
Both boys are veterans of the Glastonbury music festival and claim that it has helped them to
prepare for the camping element of the trip. To get in shape Ian has been walking the dog whilst
carrying a 50lb backpack on his back, Matt has been practicing his newly learned Spanish whilst
hitting the treadmill.
They are relying on their long standing friendship, dry sense of humor and a good tune on their
ipods to keep them going when their feet are sore, the rain is coming down and they can’t find
anywhere to camp.
Why
Ian and Matt believe in the ethos and work of Street Child of Sierra Leone and want to make a real
contribution to the charity’s progress.
Street Child of Sierra Leone was established in December 2008. Our goal is to take children off the
street and stop further children from coming to the street. We do this by working with a renowned
local partner charity whose team of skilled professionals help us to implement a program which not
only offers emergency care (food, medical, clothing) but long term hope for the future. We reunite
children with their families or place them in foster homes, council both the child and the family so
that they can adjust to living together once again. Sustainable independence is vital to our work.
We prepare each family for their eventual exit from our program with business support and training.
Street Child is an ambitious, transparent, entrepreneurial, innovative and uniquely effective charity,
with a forensic, commercial style. We are volunteer led and overhead free.
