I'm the Founder and Director of Oceans Project Georgia (OPG) a not for profit environmental education project for young people aged 8-25. OPG was started by a small group of 12 year olds at my school in Tbilisi, in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia in 2011. It went on to become a formal 32 week face to face course, and is now a free of charge, online programme open to anyone. In March 2012 we became an Independent Operator of the International Award for Young People, offering the award in Georgia for the first time.
In 2014, I'll be rowing across the Pacific Ocean from California to Cairns as part of the first ever Pacific Ocean rowing race, and post race, will be visiting schools and teaching my OPG students through our online classroom.
In 2015, I'll be attempting to be the first person to reach the Northern Pole of Inaccessibility, whilst teaching on my journey, and am in the process of building my field research centre on the Baltic coast of Latvia. Oceans Project Georgia is keen to work with educational partners to empower young people through exploration and adventure.
